NEWSLETTER #8JANUARY 2006 AUSTRALIAN TEA TREE OIL PRODUCTION Based on information received in a recent Australian Tea Tree Industry Association newsletter, we advise that two very large Australian Tea Tree Oil Plantations will shortly cease to produce Tea Tree Oil, which, in our opinion, will affect the supply/demand equation for this product. We, at AUSCAN, would like to assure our customers that we are not affected by the sale of these Plantations. We will continue to have a reliable source of consistently high quality pharmaceutical grade Tea Tree Oil and would welcome enquires to supply oil to users who may find that their supply source is no longer available. ASIAN INFLUENZA AND TEA TREE OIL A recent announcement in the State Parliament of New South Wales, Australia, confirms that an approach has been made, to the Federal Government, by the Australian Tea Tree Oil Industry, for funding to allow further research into the efficacy of Tea Tree Oil as a control agent against Bird Flu. Professor Tom Riley, Head of the Department of Microbiology at the University of Western Australia, recently had a review of his Tea Tree Oil antimicrobial data accepted for publication by the highly respected U.S. Journal, “Clinical Microbiology Reviews”, to be released January 19, 2006 and it is hoped that this will stimulate further research efforts. Professor Riley has taken acceptance of his work as an indication of the concern about antibiotic resistance and the need to find alternative agents. AUSCAN MELALEUCA LTD. VIEW
